Lets say my brother wears a kurta at his wedding so is it not good if i wear similar to his kurta?

My Parents says that if my brother get dressed up with Kurta at his wedding then i must not wear a Kurta... I am his brother, so i just wanna ask u, are there any that kind of stupid says in you? i am sorry couldn't tell u, i am from Sri lanka.
