Debate: national interest vs. constituents' interests?

I have to do a debate in school about this topic, and I have been igned to argue the affirmative side. Do not tell me that I should argue the negative (I believe the negative side is correct, myself) because I have no choice in the matter. Any points that I could expand upon would be really helpful. Please help me out! I'm debating tomorrow.
