Are humans degrading themselves?

I don't mean to be a bigot, and I am looking at this in an entirely biological way, but I believe in natural selection and how the better animals will have babies and the weak will not survive. Now I am happy with socialism and I am glad we are smart enough to not be like animals (Mostly I don't know though we still seem to keep our primitive nature a bit) But anyway my real question is: It seems like "Ugly" and "Unintelligent" people have the most kids while "Hot" and "Intelligent" people have maybe 1-3 kids or even just adopt (Like many movie stars, then again maybe we don't want another one of those ;) ) still it seems we are regressing ourselves as a species. Now don't get me wrong I just meant scientifically and I don't mean to step on anyone's toes. Please only "smart" answers.
